Effective Logo Designs
Logos act as identifiers so customers can recognize your brand. A logo should instantly connect people to your company and cause them to have some sort of emotional response. They are, after all, a brand's first impression. Logos are strategic tools, but that doesn't mean they can't be beautiful or creative!
Your logo will identify your company or brand and be used alongside other digital marketing factors to disseminate information. The design must be eye-catching, informative, and flexible. It should not be busy or tight-lined or include multiple themes. Often, clients want to stuff numerous aspects of their company into a single graphic which, ultimately, makes it unrecognizable. Additionally, the logo must be flexible so that it can be easily scalable to small or large sizes. If it's too complex, the design will lose details when its shrunk.
Color Palette Selection
When starting a brand, color palette selection is key to conveying the proper emotions. Whether you're using said palette in a logo or implementing it on your website, delving into your customer demographic and understanding what they are looking for when they search for similar brands or companies is vital.
Types of Color PalettesBelieve it or not, there are more than just a handful of color palette types. And no, we're not talking about the cute little multicolored samples you get at Lowes and Home Depot! We're talking about the color wheel--that thing you learned in fifth-grade art and never thought of again.
There are eight different types of color palettes:

Colors can instill customers with a sense of ferocity, creativity, steadfastness, energy, or youth. It's an important decision. So don't go it alone! |
The Importance of Fonts
Just like colors, font plays an enormous role in our customers perceive your brand. Fonts have two primary functions in graphic design: to promote legibility and to communicate tone.
It would be pretty weird to see Disney in a non-handwritten script. Think of the FedEx logo with a serif font or Adidas in all upper case!
Fonts influence the feel of a logo or brand and instill in potential customers a preconceived notion of the company's ideals or values.

Serif vs. San-SerifSerif fonts are old-school fonts that have decorative tails or feet, also known as tapers on the tops and bottoms. Lines might have varying widths to create depth and dimension.
San-Serif fonts are new-world fonts with simple, clean lines that are the same width throughout. Microsoft Word's default font these days is Aptos, though for seventeen years it was Calibri (seen left). |
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to design a logo?
Many factors influence the design and development of a logo. These factors can alter timelines and slow or quicken the speed with which we work. Generally speaking, however, it usually takes between one and three weeks.
What if I already have draft for a logo? Can you use what I've got?
We always welcome client input. In fact, it's absolutely vital. We will discuss your ideas at our initial consultation. Depending on the quality of the graphic you already have and its file type, we may or may not be able to utilize it. But we will try to incorporate it into the final product as best we can!
How many drafts am I allowed?
Our draft count is limitless so long as we feel that you are not taking advantage of us. If a client cannot make up their mind or decide on a final logo, we hold the right to define a draft limit.
What file types do you output to?
Our logos are all created in Adobe Photoshop, though we might use a few other auxiliary programs to tweak parts of the logo. All aspects of the final product will be transferred to you, including the original Photoshop file and the logo's files (PNG, JPG, TIFF).
What happens if I ask for a logo and then decide I also want a website as well?
Well, that's not a problem! Just let us know and we'll make preparations to pivot into website development once we finish logo design and creation.
Can logos be altered once they're finished? What happens if I don't like the logo later? Can you redo it?
Unfortunately, we cannot alter logos once they are finished. Although we can make tiny adjustments to size and file type, the design stands. If you wish to go a different direction and are in need of a logo that better represents the brand that's taking shape, we can discuss a new contract.
Once finished, who owns the rights of my logo?
You own 100% of the rights.
